Diljit Dosanjh represented his Punjabi heritage in a Prabal Gurung sherwani for his 2025 Met Gala debut

Diljit Dosanjh didn’t just walk the Met Gala 2025 carpet—he ruled it. Dressed in custom Prabal Gurung and styled by Abhilasha Devnani, the Punjabi superstar served both royalty and sharp tailoring in equal measure.

An ivory and gold sherwani, paired with a tehmat (draped bottoms) and layered with a sweeping cape embroidered with the silhouetted map of Punjab, adorned his frame. Atop his head, a feathered, jewel-studded turban completed the regal look. Around his neck hung a layered diamond set by Golecha’s Jewels, emulating the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh’s iconic Patiala necklace by Cartier. A Panthère de Cartier watch peeps under his sleeve as he glides across the carpet.

While traditional Black Dandyism often incorporates a dandy walking stick as a symbol of elegance and authority, Dosanjh added a desi twist to it. Instead of the stick, he wielded a lion-headed, jewel-studded kirpan (sword)—a symbol of both regal power and ferocity.

Dosanjh wore a Nature Sauvage Tigre bracelet with piercing emerald eyes, fine features, and sculptural volume. He paired the bracelet with the newly-launched Panthère watch in 18K rose gold and diamonds, along with a Faune et Flore de Cartier bracelet in 18k yellow gold with emeralds, yellow, orange, and brown diamonds and Panthère de Cartier ring with emeralds, onyx, diamonds.

From better sleep to regulating your thyroid, can ashwagandha do it all?

Ashwagandha’s calming effects on the nervous system may help with both sleep latency and quality. Dr. Misra attributes the herb’s sleep benefits to its withanolides, naturally occurring compounds that promote relaxation. “These compounds lower cortisol, which often keeps us awake, and help ease the body into a restful state,” she explains.

A 2019 study published in Cureus supports this, showing improved sleep quality and morning alertness for those taking ashwagandha extract.

Ashwagandha for your libido

“Ashwagandha is traditionally used to boost libido and improve sexual function,” Pascal Nourtier, a dietitian and nutritionist in Paris, told GQ France. It has increasingly been studied for its effects on libido and sexual wellness, likely due to its influence on stress, hormone balance, and circulation.

A 2015 study found that women who took high-concentration ashwagandha extract over eight weeks reported significant improvements in arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and overall satisfaction. Stress reduction and hormonal balance are likely key factors here.

Ashwagandha for thyroid support (especially in hypothyroidism)

Among its many benefits, ashwagandha’s impact on thyroid function stands out, particularly for those grappling with subclinical hypothyroidism. A 2018 study showed that 600 mg of ashwagandha root extract daily for eight weeks helped regulate TSH, T3, and T4 levels—key thyroid hormones.

Dr Manoj Kutteri, Medical Director and CEO of Atmantan Wellness Centre, recommends taking ashwagandha in the morning for thyroid support, ideally paired with zinc and selenium for maximum effect. These two nutrients are essential for optimal thyroid health.

Ashwagandha for cognitive clarity and memory

While ashwagandha’s role in supporting brain function is still under study, some promising research suggests it could improve memory, attention, and mental clarity. A 2017 study showed that those who took 300 mg of ashwagandha twice a day saw improvements in memory and information processing speed compared to the placebo group. It’s a potential ally for anyone looking to boost cognitive function, particularly in the face of stress.

Ashwagandha for strength and muscle recovery

Ashwagandha isn’t just a friend to the mind, it can also be a companion to your fitness goals. A 2015 trial showed that men who took 600 mg of ashwagandha daily while participating in resistance training saw greater gains in muscle strength and size and recovered faster than those taking a placebo. It could be just the boost you need to maximise your post-workout recovery.

Ashwagandha for blood sugar and insulin support

Recent studies have found that ashwagandha may play a role in regulating blood sugar levels. A 2024 review concluded that the herb significantly impacted fasting glucose and HbA1c levels, suggesting its potential to support metabolic balance. While the research is still in its early stages, ashwagandha could be a natural addition for those looking to manage blood sugar.

Ashwagandha for hair and skin health

This is where the science thins out. While you’ll find ashwagandha in plenty of Ayurvedic oils and serums, there’s no strong clinical evidence to suggest it directly improves skin clarity or hair growth.

Dua Lipa’s Chanel look for the 2025 Met Gala was adorned with feathers, crystals… and Callum Turner

Dua Lipa has delivered some memorable Met Gala moments over the years: there was the purple psychedelic dress by Atelier Versace that she wore to the 2019 Camp-themed edition; the archival Chanel haute couture gown from autumn/winter 1992, originally worn by Claudia Schiffer down the runway, which she chose to honour Karl Lagerfeld in 2023; and the boudoir-inspired Marc Jacobs number that she sported for the Sleeping Beauties theme in 2024.

This year, the singer turned to Chanel once again for her 2025 Met Gala look. In keeping with the “Tailored for You” dress code, Lipa wore a custom open-back chiffon dress with a long bow at the back, a black sequin tweed jacket and an organza cape – all adorned with crystals, pearls and feathers to add to the sense of drama. In total, the complete look took 2,000 hours to make and features 45,000 embroidered elements, highlighting the remarkable level of craftsmanship on display.

Of course, Lipa’s relationship with the French fashion house goes way back: the star previously revealed how she splurged on the Chanel Boy bag after she got her first pay cheque from her record label more than a decade ago in 2014. Since then, she’s worn Chanel on countless occasions – including during her Radical Optimism tour, where she wore a bodysuit version of the chained dress originally seen on Christy Turlington on the maison’s spring/summer 1992 catwalk (Lily-Rose Depp later went on to wear the gown at the 2019 Met Gala) – and was announced as a face of the Chanel 25 bag earlier this year.

Lipa hasn’t been exclusively wearing Chanel for Met Gala weekend though, with the star also photographed in US brands Willy Chavarria and Calvin Klein while in the Big Apple. Could we see her championing another New York designer for the Met Gala after-parties? Watch this space.
