Ever the maximalist, Natasha Poonawalla embraced dandyism at the 2025 Met Gala red carpet, commanding attention in custom Manish Malhotra couture. Drawing inspiration from her Parsi ancestry, the ensemble styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania reimagined the theme through the lens of Indian craftsmanship.

The focal point of the entrepreneur’s ensemble was a sculpted fishtail skirt, created from two vintage Parsi Gara saris, one of which was a century-old treasure from the archives. The fabric, a tapestry of hand-embroidered silken threads, spoke to the rich legacy of Indian partisanship. Complementing the skirt was a corset-cummerbund paired with a delicate vintage French lace bralette, edged in scalloped pearls—an embodiment of dandyism, where structured form meets understated luxury.

Above, a sharply tailored black Gara jacket with bold shoulders and an imperial purple lining added regal flair, while remaining close to the year’s theme. A sculptural lace cravat by Atelier Biser provided the final flourish, adding an extra layer of theatricality. In Poonawalla’s hand is a miniature Chanel pearl-trimmed box bag to finish the look.

The philanthropist’s Met Gala appearance this year was a cultural statement – a fusion of heritage and modernity—asserting her status as an influential force in the fashion world.

King Khan’s look at its core is a floor-length, elongated coat in Tasmanian superfine wool, finished with monogrammed Japanese horn buttons. The coat is hand-canvassed and single-breasted, cut with a peak collar and wide lapels for a sculptural silhouette. Beneath it, he wears a black crepe de Chine silk shirt, left open at the chest, paired with tailored superfine wool trousers. A pleated satin kamarbandh cinches the waist, adding structure and softness to the tailored layers.

Jewellery is layered across his torso, including a custom stack of talismanic chains anchored by a crystal-studded pendant shaped as the letter K and a diamond star brooch at the lapel. Rings adorn his fingers. He carries the Bengal Tiger Head Cane, crafted in 18k gold and embellished with tourmalines, sapphires, old mine-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds, adding an understated note of power to the look.

The court jacket, with its Mughal-inspired cut, draws from India’s rich menswear traditions that have long blended indigenous style with colonial-era tailoring. The layered jewellery over the open shirt recalls historic portraits of maharajas draped in pearls and gemstones, using ornament as a statement of status and authority.
